Anton Ficai, PhD
Politehnica University Bucharest, Departament of Science and Engineering of Oxydic Materials and Nanomaterials, Bucharest, Romania
Dr. Ficai obtained his diploma in Organic Chemistry, the master in Bioengineering and the PhD in Collagen/Hydroxyapatite composite materials. Between 2010 and 2013 he accomplished the Postdoctoral studies in bone substitutes. His research activity is mainly focused on biomaterials for tissue engineering, from pure regenerative to drug loaded systems with various biological activities: antitumoral, antimicrobial, analgesic, etc. During the last 10 years he was involved in some projects dealing with bone cancer treatment and pain management (especially associated with bone cancer), in improving the prosthetic tubular devices, in ligament reconstruction, etc. He obtained various national and international awards and prizes, including two Gold Medals: “BRUSSELS INNOVA - The World Exhibition on Inventions, Research and New Technologies” and “European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation – EUROINVENT”. Anton FICAI is also active in the field of synthesis and characterization of drug delivery systems, synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, biomaterials with antimicrobial activity, etc. Currently, Anton FICAI is associate professor at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, he was invited professor at “Summer School on Composite Materials: from basic to nano” and is involved in the editorial board of four journals: “Quantitative Imaging in Medicine and Surgery”, “Journal of Nanomaterials, Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine“, “Scientific Bulletin of University, POLITEHNICA” of Bucharest – Seria B: Chemistry and Materials Sciences” and "Biointerface Research in Applied Chemistry” and Guest Editor of three ISI journals: “The Science World Journal”, “Current Pharmaceutical Design” and “Current Drug Targets”. His publishing track includes over 120papers, from which over 90 were published in ISI journals. His papers attracted over 400 citations and an H-index of 12.
